ERWAT was invited to participate in the South African Government’s National Water and Sanitation Indaba on 27 to 28 March 2025 at the Gallagher Convention Centre in Midrand, Gauteng.

The Indaba with the theme “WATER SECURITY AND PROVISION” is hosted by the Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS) and will highlight government’s commitment to tackle South Africa’s water security challenges and ensure reliable, sustainable water as well as sanitation services for all South Africans.

According to the DWS and government spokespeople the Indaba will build upon the outcomes of the Water Summit that was held in January 2024, while aiming at the development of a high-level national turnaround plan for water security. The department said this plan will focus on expanding access to water and sanitation services, enhancing water infrastructure, and implementing effective measures to improve water security and service reliability.

The President of South Africa, Mr Cyril Ramaphosa will deliver the keynote address, reaffirming the statement during his State of the Nation Address that water has been elevated as top priority of government to secure South Africa’s long-term water future.

The Deputy President, Mr Paul Mashatile will also attend and deliver closing remarks at the end of day two on 28 March 2025.

The Minister of Water and Sanitation, Minister Pemmy Majodina, several other ministers, deputy ministers as well as premiers will attend the Indaba.

The Indaba also hosts an exhibition where participants can showcase latest technologies utilised in the water sector.

ERWAT’s stand will highlight innovative solutions implemented at some of its Water Care Works, including the HYBACS technology, the utilisation of plastic media in biofilters and dewatering units for sludge beneficiation.

ERWAT, the winner of seven Green Drops for excellence in wastewater management, looks forward to attending this crucial Indaba and exhibition to confirm its role as a leader in sustainable water care and water resource recovery committed to delivering high-quality, environmentally responsible, and affordable services.
