Focused on the delivery of technical, maintenance and engineering services, as well as project management to the wastewater industry, ERWAT Technical Services specialises in maintenance and asset life-cycle management of wastewater. Clients include ERWAT’s Operations Department and the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality.

Uncompromising technical and professional standards are maintained to ensure quality, reliability, availability, output capacity and customer satisfaction. Services include: provision of maintenance engineering services, asset life-cycle management of ERWAT’s wastewater care works and associated pump stations, reliability engineering, plant compliance, and the implementation of capital expenditure projects. Efficient service delivery occurs in four main areas, namely maintenance engineering, physical asset management, planning and reliability engineering, and compliance and specialised services.

Maintenance engineering

This includes maintenance services on mechanical, electrical and instrumentation (MEI) to all ERWAT’s wastewater treatment works and the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality (EMM) pump stations.

Physical asset management

This function includes the conduct of asset condition assessments as well as the development and maintenance of asset registers. Together with planning and reliability engineering, the primary responsibility is to conduct asset lifecycle analyses focusing on analysing of trends, events and developments and integrating these with the associated management realities. Capital expenditure projects implementation and contract management are further key function areas.

Planning and reliability engineering

ERWAT Technical Services provides an extremely useful software-driven tool, which can be used for workflow management, planning, scheduling and budget preparation and tracking. Reliability engineering focuses on predictive and preventative maintenance, condition monitoring and equipment testing. It also offers technical consultations and recommendations for new assets/equipment for wastewater engineering.

Compliance and specialised services

Specialised electrical and instrumentation services and plant compliance in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Act and relevant regulations are provided.
