On 28 February 2024, ERWAT experienced a targeted ransomware attack that infiltrated the entity’s network and servers. The incident response team immediately implemented measures to minimise the impact of the cyber-attack incident. It is anticipated that full recovery will be achieved by the end of this week.
It is important to note that during this whole incident, treatment of wastewater and payment for services rendered to ERWAT, were maintained and continued without any interruptions.
However, the main impact is on ERWAT's Scientific Services, as services had to be scaled down to a basic service level.
ERWAT apologizes to customers who may have been affected by the incident but assures all stakeholders that we are working around the clock to fully restore all the services.
