The Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) of Water and Sanitation in Ekurhuleni, Cllr Thembi Msame, visited three of ERWAT’s 19 Water Care Works (WCWs) on 19 September 2024.
As all of us know, ERWAT’s WCWs contain various pump systems, installed to recirculate and transfer various flows. Some of the older systems proved to be inefficient in today’s conditions for various reasons, such as urbanisation and growth in industries.
As all the pump systems are critical for the operation of ERWAT’s WCWs, many pumps, including valves, piping and accessories across 18 of the 19 WCW’s were supplied and installed in the 2023/2024 financial year where the most pressing needs were.
The purpose of the visit by the MMC was to view some of these installations at the Olifantsfontein, Hartebeestfontein and Waterval WCW’s.
The Managing Director, Mr Kennedy Chihota and senior project managers accompanied Cllr Msame and explained the various processes and kinds of pumps and equipment.
